My name is Ariane. I've been a flight attendant, a visual merchandiser, a barista, a cashier and a housekeeping employee. I've worked in retail for more than 10 years now and I've met way more people than I wish I did! I've had terrible managers and inspiring leaders, incompetent fellow associates AND hard-working co-workers who became friends.

But what is dreadful is that most of the good ones have left. Great workers don't stay in retail and I think that's a huge mistake. Not on their part, of course. Leadership is a big word in retail but it's rarely actually seen in action.
